Freelance dancer and choreographer

Rebecca Horner is a Vienna-born dancer and choreographer. In January 2026, she ended her contract as a soloist with the Vienna State Ballet to work freelance and pursue new artistic paths. Since then, she has been increasingly active in her association. dances. as well as in solo projects for the Austrian contemporary dance scene.

In May 2025, she realized her museum project "Maria*s: Mensch vs. Maschine" s part of the special exhibition "Experiment Expressionismus" at the Heidi Horten Collection. An interdisciplinary performance with three dancers guiding visitors through the three floors of the exhibition. A camera operator accompanies the event with a live video that is simultaneously projected onto screens and walls throughout the museum, opening up new perspectives on body, space, and dance for the audience.

Already during her time as a company member at the Vienna State Ballet, roles in contemporary productions increasingly sparked her interest. In the 2022/23 season, she therefore moved to the Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT1)for one season to deepen her artistic engagement with contemporary dance, before returning to Vienna.

On May 19, 2019, Rebecca Horner was honored with the Fanny Elßler Ring awarded. This honor, comparable to the Iffland Ring, is presented to outstanding Austrian dance artists.

Rebecca Horner was appointed as a soloist in 2017, two years after being promoted to demi-soloist. She joined the ballet of the Vienna State Opera and Volksoper in 2007.

She completed her dance training at the renowned ballet school of the Vienna State Opera.
